Welcome to the Art Gallery and “Hotel Style” Lodges of Pete Caswell, an internationally well know artist.
These stunning adult only lodges are based on a hotel suite and feel like they have been teleported from a luxury hotel into the wild flower meadows on the 7 acres of grounds around Pete’s Art Studio.
In Pete’s typical creative style he looked to combine the fun & romance of a hotel suite with the practicality of a self catering stay and the seclusion of a lodge and so he designed the Gallery Lodges. Each lodge has a king size bed and a large and beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. On the walls you will find some of Pete’s stunning sunsets and occasionally some of his ski art.
In the lounge area is a sofa, small kitchen area and dining table. This leads out onto the South facing deck where you can watch the birds, wildlife and admire the flowers in the meadows. The fields border two SSSI reserves and are near the Braunton Burrows Dunes UNESCO site.
Each Lodge has its own collections of Pete Caswell’s paintings on the wall for you to admire during your stay. The lodges are each set on their own in the meadows.
You should note that there is no breakfast served so you don’t have to get up in the morning. You can find some great cafes in the nearby cosmopolitan village of Braunton with a California surf feel to it. Or make your own to eat on the hopefully sunny deck.
To preserve the peace and quiet at the Lodges they are for adults only. We do not allow pets, children or babies to stay.
While the lodges are set in a beautiful setting, they are conveniently placed only a 20min walk from Braunton centre and a 1.5 mile drive to Saunton Beach. You can walk through the dunes via Moor Lane but this is a longer walk.
There are lots of great walks nearby including many stunning headlands on the South West Coast path, beaches, dunes, Exmoor National Park and a little further away Dartmoor. The lodges have plenty of maps and Pete likes to share his knowledge of the best walks & surfing in the area. See some of the blog posts on this site.
There are lots of beaches to visit in the area from large sandy expanses on the West coast to stunning cliffs and rocky bays on the North. There are 3 of the best surf beaches in the UK nearby with surf board hire if you want to try it out.
